The Productive Backyards Project was created to boost income generation in the Sertão region by engaging and developing the agricultural skills of rural residents. The project transforms the lives of dozens of families in the rural area of Betânia do Piauí, demonstrating that it is possible to grow quality fruits and vegetables even with little rainfall.

To this end, we offer training workshops focused on the local climate and vegetation, teaching cultivation techniques that enable consistent and healthy production. This initiative helps producers improve their family diets and generate additional income by selling their products at Quitanda dos Quintais, the city's first agroecological market.

Featured in awards, the project has already generated more than R$ 40 thousand in income for producers, and with the new Water Reuse initiative, we're using treated graywater to irrigate fruit trees. Today, 92 families participate in the Productive Backyards project, benefiting from agricultural production, environmental awareness, and assistance in marketing their products.
