In the Northeastern Sertão, a quiet revolution is underway. Through technology, new opportunities are being created, especially among the young people of Betânia do Piauí. Digital inclusion in the Sertão, driven by educational projects, has promoted access to knowledge, the internet, and the digital job market.
This transformation has been driven by the support of the Novo Sertão Institute, whose initiatives combine education and technology to foster local development. As a result, new perspectives are being generated in previously disconnected communities, creating real pathways for the future.
All Connected: A Step Towards Inclusion
With the collaboration of Viasat Brasil, a global leader in satellite internet, rural communities now have access to quality connectivity. Thus, the project Todos Conectados was structured with the aim of offering decent access to the internet and digital education to young people in the countryside.
Over 80 hours of training, practical and contextualized content allowed participants to learn everything from the basics of technological tools to their application in daily life and professional settings. As a result, the project directly benefited 50 people, with its first class completed by 30 students in the village of Cajueiro, Betânia do Piauí.
Inova Sertão: professionalization in Digital Marketing
In 2024, the Novo Sertão Institute began a new phase with the launch of Inova Sertão, a professional training course in Digital Marketing and Communication. Over the course of six months, participants experienced more than 800 hours of theoretical and practical classes with experts in the field.
From this learning experience, students mastered everything from social media strategies to content creation and graphic design techniques. Furthermore, the entire course emphasized local realities and focusin generating income with accessible tools — like your own cell phone.

Results that inspire
The graduation of 14 young people through the Inova Sertão project symbolized more than just the completion of a course: it represented the beginning of a new generation of digital protagonists. As a result, these young people began to see opportunities where there had previously been limitations.
The support of organizations such as Shopee, Instituto Localiza, and Viasat reinforces that when education and technology work together, the results are concrete and lasting.
Education that generates impact
All of this work aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which addresses access to quality education. Furthermore, digital inclusion is proving to be a powerful tool for reducing social inequalities and promoting sustainable development in the semiarid Northeast region.
A more connected and fair Sertão
Promoting digital inclusion in the Sertão region also promotes social justice. Besides providing access to knowledge, it contributes to income generation, strengthening young people's self-esteem, and building more resilient communities.
Therefore, we are just at the beginning of a journey that is already bearing fruit. With each new entry, each new course, more doors open. And the Sertão, in turn, is becoming synonymous with innovation, hope, and the future.
