For the past 10 years, we’ve been dreaming of a fairer Sertão, full of opportunities and dignity for its people.

The Sertão keeps moving forward and you can be part of this journey!

To celebrate this milestone, throughout this year we’ll have several special initiatives to mark the Institute’s 10th anniversary.

That’s why we’ve created a new space to share stories of impact, learning, and transformation.

And as one of the 10 Impact Actions in 2025, we’re launching our podcast Podtransformar! Every month, we’ll release a new episode with fascinating topics that show how transformation is happening in the Sertão.

Development Index

The human development index (HDI) measures local development and how vulnerable a city or country is to poverty. Of the 500 municipalities that had the lowest HDI in Brazil, 47.5% are located in our area.

After I started participating in the symphonic band project, I started to take more responsibility for my commitments and I learned the importance of persisting and not giving up on my dreams.

I see people who are producing a happy face, because they are producing quality food and helping with their own income.

If I hadn't started my Productive Yard I wouldn't have all these products, with the sale of the surplus I can pay for the monthly purchase of the house, that's a big help!

Having brought the Family Farming project into the church showed the community that we are not here with an empty speech, but that we can demonstrate our relationship with God through the work of the garden and each relationship that is being generated through this work.

Agradeço a Deus pela oportunidade e ao Instituto Novo Sertão. Nos três meses do curso Todos Conectados, aprendemos muito sobre informática com o professor Joelson, que nos ensinou a consertar nossos próprios computadores, facilitando nossas vidas. A experiência foi enriquecedora e sou grata a todos os envolvidos!

O Futsertão me trouxe muita alegria e novos amigos e aprendi bastante a respeitar, e também a amar o futebol. Através dos ensinamentos do futsertão eu aprendi a respeitar meus companheiros de equipe e a me dedicar mais aos estudos e aos treinos.
